Word of Life Campus Ministry (WOLCM) conceived by the vision of our former Word of Life Executive Director, Rev. Mike Foster years back before we started this ministry.

"What did you see?"

One time, Rev. Mike Foster brought his wife Ate Marti to have breakfast at a nearby fast-food chain, and while they were eating, he asked her “what did you see?” to her surprise said, “What do you mean? I saw a lot of people.”, and he said “right, a lot of people who do not know Christ and was lost.

Shared Vision

The next time around, Rev. Mike Foster brought Ptr. Sam Cabanilla to the same restaurant and had breakfast, and asked him the same question, and was also surprise of the kind of question and answered, “people, like students walking to and pro..” Rev. Foster confirmed that Ptr. Sam saw the right thing, and he shared his vision to him and began to pray about WOLCM.

The Answered Prayer

During our internship in BI, Rev. Foster approach us (Me, Roy, and Liezel) individually, and shared us his vision and asked us to pray and consider it as our first ministry in full time after finishing BI. And we did pray for it, and indeed, God answered that prayer. Three of us agreed to do Word of Life Campus Ministry as missionaries. We started the ministry in June 2006.

The First Step

At the start, we had a hard time doing the ministry because none of us had an experience of doing it before, so we did a lot of brainstorming of how we do it, and by God’s grace, we learned little by little. We were able to make contacts and established friendships and were able to introduce the discipleship program that we have, and some committed to do it.

The Need for the Student Center

During the time we started doing discipleship, we came to realize the need to have a student center, mainly because, every time we had discipleship session with the students, we just did it at the benches on the field, and we find it hard for us when rain comes. So, we started to pray about it. Not for long, God provide us the funds we need for the said student center.

First Student Center

So, we started to find a place, and God lead us to such beautiful place located at the center of the campus (SU Basement Bldg.). We were amazed how God orchestrate all things for us to have that place. We got that place in November, and we did some renovation, and made it operational in the month of January 2007 until November of 2009.

2010
Second Student Center

Unfortunately, after three years of renting the place, we were not allowed to renew our contract for some reasons.  So, we were forced to look for another place to rent, and praise God, He gave us the second student Centre, a private owned located inside the campus near the main gate. We enjoyed the place, though it was a bit smaller, and by the time the number of our contacts grew, the need to find a bigger one arise, but God remains faithful. Our land lord offer us a bigger place, an old abandoned house actually, that if we are interested, we will renovate the building with our expense and shall be deducted for monthly rentals all expenses we incurred.

"UP to present"

And so, we did grab the offer of our land lord. We renovated the building, and when it was done and ready for use, we transferred to that place, since then up to present we are using it. By God’s grace, lot of student have been benefited of that place, not just for study area, but also a place to fellowship with fellow students and staffs, and most of all learning the Word of God through Bible club meetings and one-on-one discipleships.
